Chrome OS Release Moved To Q4 – Confirmed

Chrome OS Release Moved To Q4 – Confirmed

Speaking at the Computex event in Taipei today Google’s VP of product management (Sundar Pichai) announced that Chrome OS will officially launch in the fourth quarter of 2010. This puts the release date within the period of September and early December this year.

The news comes only a day after New York Times published a story claiming that Google had banned all it’s employees from using Microsoft operating systems. This has been widely seen as a move that is meant to pave way from Chrome OS by igniting a sort of ‘Ipad style hype’.

Never the less it is welcome news that Google has chosen to narrow down it’s Chrome OS release date which was begining to seem more elusive by the da. Even so,this may come as quite a disappointment for those who expected Google to adhere to the timeline which they announced in July last year. If they had done so; Chrome OS would be hitting the streets within the next month or so.
