Google Rakes In The Money

According to Google’s second quarter financial results; the company has raked in 24% more revenue than the same period last year. Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt is quoted as saying:

Solid growth in our core business and very strong growth in our emerging businesses drove 24% revenue growth year over year. We saw strength in every major product area, as more and more traditional brand advertisers embraced search advertising and as large advertisers increasingly ran integrated campaigns across search, display, and mobile. We feel confident about our future, and plan to continue to invest aggressively in our core areas of strategic focus

Google’s success comes at no surprise; the last four or five years have seen the company grow from strength to strength. The company has launched products such as Android OS that have done nothing less than jolt the mobile phone market. Google still has scope to make greater strides with it’s upcoming release of Chrome OS.

Even so it is worth noting that neither Chrome OS or Android will ever make Google any direct revenure (e.g. from sales both operating systems are open-source). Rather Google’s strategy seems more geared to creating platforms by which they can distribute and sell their Ad-sense.

Ad-sense made Google $2.06 billion just in the second quarter; a staggering 30% of the company’s revenues. It will be interesting to see how the internet giant decides to utilize Android, Chrome and Chrome OS to further inflate it’s revenues.
