‘Cloud Print’ Appears On Chromium OS

A recent discovery by DownloadSquad has revealed that Google has deployed Cloud Print on their latest Chromium OS builds.

As we covered in a previous story, Google has had plans to allow for users to print from their Chrome OS device to a printer (anywhere in the world) through the internet. This has been tagged as ‘cloud printing’ since then. Thence in essence, cloud printing would give an individual the ability to print a document from a printer on the other side of the office or even the world.

Ofcourse the printer would have to be capable of cloud printing for this to work. Hence if you were to attempt to print from the latest Chromium OS you would probably have little success; compatible printers (with Chromium OS) don’t seem to be currently available on the market. It also seems like even though Google has partially introduced this new feature, they haven’t made it fully available so that it actually works (more details may emerge soon on wether it is functional yet).

Nevertheless this seems an interesting development for the Chromium OS project which has many implications for the upcoming Chrome OS. One can only hope that developments like this signal the impending release of the much awaited operating system.
