Chrome OS To Arrive In October
The long awaited Google Chrome Operating System will be released in October this year. The Operating system which Google announced last year has ever since been ducking and diving the media spotlight. Even so, it now seems that as the release of Chrome OS draws closer, many are begining to re-evaluate the operating system’s possible impact on the netbook and tablet market.
Last year we were told that Chrome OS would be unveiled exactly one year on (which would have been around July this year) but since then Google moved the release date to the 3rd quarter of 2010; but we are now reliably informed that the release will indeed be in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Why Chrome OS Will Be Released in October
Google TV products will officially go on sale in October this year and there is good reason to expect Chrome OS to accompany Google TV at it’s launch. It is a usual strategy for companies to release similar products concurrently. We’ve often seen this with Apple were products such as the Iphone were released in concurrence with new generations of Ipod and Mac devices.
Even more interesting is the fact that the Google Web Store will be released in October to catter for Google TV. And as we already know, the only purpose of the Web Store is to house the many thousands of web applications that are currently in development. It then makes sense that as Google TV and the Web Store are unleashed onto the market; Chrome OS will also make it’s entrance. Afterall, the main purpose developers are developing for the Web Store is to target mostly Chrome OS users as these will be the largest consumers of web applications.
How about Chrome OS Devices
We already know that there are a couple of Google TV ‘boxes’ in development but currently no one knows if there are any Chrome OS devices in the works. This can only point to the fact that even though Chrome OS will be unveiled in October, it is highly unlikely that devices running this OS will go on sale during the same period. What we are expecting to see are announcements and previews of upcoming devices; hence actual device sales will be much latter on in the year, most probably just before the Christmas holidays.
Don’t say we didn’t reveal it here; Chrome OS is coming in October 2010!

That's interesting! i want try it !
Chrome OS will do nothing less than usher in a revolution in computing. There's no excuse on why not to be excited
A computer that runs a browser – now that is exciting indeed!
That's OK; not everyone gets it. When Chrome OS comes out, you can hold someone's hand while they walk you through it so you don't get too scared.
A computer that let me access my youtube channel, or read my mail without wasting 2min of my time watching it boot.. yes that is exciting to me.
Yeah it's certainly looking like they're planning on a massive push for Christmas.
Apple are no doubt hoping to sell lots of iPads and iPhones between now and next January and this looks like a concerted effort to steal Apple's thunder.
Both Chrome OS and Google TV are very exciting concepts and I can't wait to get a chance to try them out.
@Led: ChromeOS can be installed on any PC – netbook, notebook or desktop.
@bigdcart: In theory any netbook will be able to run ChromeOS. That's the point of this operating system – to be able to work in good conditions even on low performance computers.
Yes It can ! It is based on Linux Operating system. Dont forget that companies developing hardware for the operating system include Acer, Adobe, Asus, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, Intel, Samsung Australia, and Dell.

Where is Chome OS, I have a netbook collecting dust waiting for Chrome to revive it!
HAha…check out my recent interview with Hexxeh. He thinks November or December this year
Okay, it's Oct 29, and Chrome OS is not here.
It seems like Google has stuffed us all. Chrome OS will probably be delayed, especially judging by the recent news reports I have been reading. Otherwise if all is well, keep your eye out for this date:11 November 2010
