Chrome Web Store – A Quick Tour

So, it has been over a week since Google announced the Chrome Web Store. We’ve even written a guide on what we believe are the 10 best Web Applications thus far. Even so, a quick perusal of the Chrome OS forums reveals that not everyone is particularly knowledgeable as to what the Web Store is and how it works. We’ve had individuals who have never used the Chrome Browser and have recently received the CR-48 Chrome Notebook and have no clue what the difference between a Web App and Chrome extension is.

Nevertheless, without fail, Google as provided a nice little video giving a quick tour of their new Web Store (check it out above). You can browse the Web Store and install apps from any of these platforms:

  • Chrome Browser
  • Any Chromium Based Browser (e.g. RockMelt)
  • Google TV
  • Any distribution of Chromium OS
  • Chrome OS Beta (using the CR-48 Notebook).

Unfortunately the Web store and the majority of it’s Apps are not available on Android powered devices. It is still possible though to use Apps in the Web store with any of the major web browsers but those Apps will not be installable through Google’s Web Store.

Visit the Web Store Today.
