It’s that time of the year again when thousands of developers and journalists begin preparations for Google’s most grand event on the calendar. There are only 90 days to go until the 2011 edition of Google I/O and this year it seems like it’s going to be the best yet.
According to a Tweet by Google VP Vic Gundotra, Google started selling tickets at 9am this morning; only 59 minutes later all tickets were sold out. Techcrunch explains more:
Google VP Vic Gundotra tweeted that tickets were now sold out. To put that in perspective, Gundotra also tweeted that the 2009 conference took 90 days to sell out, and the 2010 conference took 50 days.
Chrome OS and Android to fight for limelight
With the release of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and the impending launch of Chrome OS, it seems like Google’s I/O this year will be a battle ground for the two operating systems.
Google has been clear in the past that there should be no overlap between the two operating systems as one is made for touchscreen devices and the other for devices that have keyboards. Even so, there has been a lot of contestation of this idea by many bloggers who have argued that Android should rule the roost. Nevertheless, wherever you stand, whether you’re an advocate for Chrome OS or Android, we are sure that this year’s I/O event will be one to remember!
