Good news for tablets? A new TOUCH_UI build was released last week for the Google Chrome OS that supports the ability to touch and drag for apps development. This currently is focused on making apps easy to arrange on pages, with a range of gestures included such as swiping and dragging to switch pages as well as the ability to press and hold an app to move it.

Google has mentioned before making the Chrome OS a touch friendly operating system but there has been no doubt that their focus is on laptops first and a tablet-friendly touch version later. While the work is merely a beginning to touch capabilities, the developers nevertheless seem eager to at least show what the future Chrome OS could potentially have in store for users. With laptops being discussed for release potentially as early as this summer using Chrome OS, it’ll be interesting to watch the developments being to unwind around the touch capabilities over the coming months.
