Samsung’s Chrome OS Event – May 11th

Samsung's event to be after I/O 2011

Yes, you read correctly. Details are coming in that Samsung have sent out an invite to journalists for an event Which will kick off just after Google’s I/O developer conference in California (which begins on May 10th). Samsung’s event will be taking place on Wednesday the 11th.

The invite reads:

We wish we could tell you the details now, but that wouldn’t be any fun

This all comes as exciting news because just a week or so ago, we spotted a Samsung netbook in the Chrome OS dev channels which was being put through the tests by Google employees. This device was simply code named ‘Samsung ZGB’.

It is very likely that Samsung is planning to be the first mover by unveiling an early prototype of this device next week. It is not a secret that the company is one of Google’s hardware partners for Chrome OS hence if there is going to be any ‘surprise’ announcement it is likely that Samsung will be first (possibly alongside Acer) to show of their devices.

Stay tuned
We will be keeping on top of all stories until and after the I/O conference so check back from time to time to find out the latest developments. Also, join the Chrome OS forum for a more interactive follow up on the week’s events.
