Recently I uploaded a guide on how to download and install Google’s Chrome Operating system. Even though this guide was quite sufficient for the more profficient computer users, I thought it would be great to share a step by step video guide as well.

Note: For all instructions, make sure you download the client into a local directory. Placing the source and compiling on a network partition will drive you nuts.

1 Comment Chrome OS’ 4sec boot Time!
Chrome OS is a very lightweight operating system designed for cloud computing. Despite all of this I was still very surprised at the super fast boot times Google achieved with it. Google completely re-thought the way that a computer is supposed to start up and did away with the most unnecessary things that we see in Windows and Apple configurations.
One thing I noticed though is that Google is apparently “doing away with hard disks and is adopting SSD support” for the new OS. This to me implies that it won’t work on traditional hard drives and will only work on “Google certified netbooks”. Maybe this means most of us won’t be able to “upgrade but rather buy brand new machines.

Hey all, there seems to have been a huge surge of downloads available on the internet for Google Chrome OS Beta. For those of you interested in trying it out, here is the download. I don’t know what the legality of this is due to the fact that Chrome will be free and is based on an open source Linux platform anyway. Just in case, only download and try this out at your own discretion.

There has been much speculation as to when the new Chrome OS will be released. I thought I’d quickly announce to you guys that it seems as if we have a whole year toi wait until it’s released.
During one of the demo launch talks (Mountain View) the speaker said that they were going to release the demo a year before the launch…kinda like what MS did with windows 7.

Yes!!
This is an official video of the new Chrome OS and all it’s functions. It looks pretty sweet. It’s very simple and lightweight and great for netbooks. Personally though I think they made it a bit too simple. Some say it’s a “glorified web browser” or “google Chrome that just won’t minimize”. Whatever the case though it presents a big threat to MS and Ubuntu on the netbook arena. What are your first impressions?

Internet search giant Google has lifted the lid on its operating system, known as Chrome OS.
The free and open source system is initially aimed at low-cost netbooks and does away with many of the features of a traditional program.
All applications are designed to run in a web browser and all the user’s data is stored on Google’s servers.
Engineers from the firm said the first computers running the system would be available before the end of 2010.
“We are trying to offer a choice for users,” said Sundar Pichai, vice-president of product management, during an event at the firm’s headquarters in California.
