Samsung/Acer Chrome Notebooks – Full Pricing List

Yesterday Engadget released a more complete list of the pricing details for the Samsung Series 5 and the Acer Chromebook devices in their various flavours. Each device comes in either wi-fi only or 3g and wi-fi versions. The Samsung Series 5 will come in two colours; white and black.

Google CR-48 Keyboard Shortcut List

One of our members in the Chrome OS forums told us about a nice little posting that he made on his personal blog. He (vmtcom) took the time to catalogue all the shortcut keys on the CR-48 Chrome Notebook. As we know, the CR-48′s keybord is very much different from your average keyboard. After-all, Google did away with the caps-lock key and instead replaced it with a search key. Is Google’s Chrome OS An ‘Evil’ Idea?

Richard Stallman, (founder of the Free Software Foundation and creator of the operating system GNU) has sent a chilling warning to all Google lovers out there; especially those planning on purchasing Chrome OS devices next year. His warning is clear and simple; ‘Chrome OS is evil because it forces people to store all their data on the cloud’. During an interview with the Guardian Newspaper, Richard seems to have gone through a lengthily tirade about how people have become dumb enough to fall for Chrome OS due to all the media hype. He seems to elude to people’s laziness as a contributing factor in ‘subcontracting’ their personal data to the cloud. He calls it “careless computing”.

How To Enter Developer Mode On CR-48

The CR-48 Chrome Notebook which was released by Google last week (for beta testing Chrome OS) has certainly hogged the news in the last few days. Many blogs have been reviewing it’s hardware, scrutinizing it’s every attribute so much that one wonders if we’ve all forgotten the point of why it was released to begin with. Only 1/10th Of CR-48 Notebooks Shipped (so far)

We’ve all heard of the recently revealed ‘CR-48 Tracker’ Web App which does exactly that; it tracks the UPS delivery of CR-48 Chrome Notebooks. by running a simple search for all the CR-48?s that are currently in transit within a given city, or by entering a Zip Code, you can see if there are any CR-48?s destined for your neighbourhood. I did a quick search for Birmingham Alabama (not that I’n from there) and here’s what I got:

TweetDeck Web App – Tutorial

If you are familiar with TweetDeck on the Ipad, Android or any other platform you will love the web application version. It was designed to run fully in the browser using Chrome OS, the Chrome Browser or Google TV. So if you have a CR-48, this is a must see application.

Web Apps Are Taking Over

We can well and truly say that year 2011 will be ‘the year of web applications’ (powered by Chrome and Chrome OS of course). Apple changed everything when they first introduced their IOS for the IPhone and their Ipods. More-so, with the entry of the Ipad it seems like ‘Apps’ now make the world go round; but you can have an app for anything, but you can’t run your app on anything. That’s the big problem!

Selling Google CR-48 Notebooks On Ebay Is ‘Illegal’

Over the last few days a few daring individuals have began to sell their CR-48 Chrome Notebooks on Ebay! It is understandable why this is quite a lucrative black market. After-all, Google is giving them out for free just in the USA to a select 60,000 users. In essence, they have created immense value for a product that they initially issued for Beta testing purposes only.
